Wearing your exercise ball vests, collect the seven odd shapes from around the Taskmaster Retreat and stack them into a perfectly square tower on the oblong was a team task featured on Season 3 of Taskmaster Australia, as the second task in Burying a backpacker. The task was won by Concetta Caristo and Mel Buttle.
Setup[]
Location | Taskmaster Retreat |
---|---|
Equipment | Exercise ball vests, Tetris pieces |
Measurement | Fastest wins |
Summary[]
The task was presented underneath a Lego cube, which was placed on one of the odd shapes. Contestants had to find all the odd shapes from around the Taskmaster House, then arrange them into a perfect square while wearing cumbersome exercise ball vests. Also, the team of 3 had the additional task of whispering a supportive sentence to another teammate every 30 seconds.
Performance[]
Aaron Chen, Peter Helliar, & Rhys Nicholson: The team of 3 collected the pieces, struggled to make a square, and had to start over many times. At one point they stopped to order coffee and pizza, before Pete questioned the validity of E=MC². They managed to make a square after 52 minutes and 15 seconds. They received 2 points each.
Concetta Caristo & Mel Buttle: Concetta and Mel split up to collect the pieces, initially failing to make a square. Concetta became concerned that they would be stuck forever, while Mel considered death to be a preferable alternative. They eventually formed a square after 18 minutes and 5 seconds. They received 5 points each.
Trivia[]
- The contrast of Concetta's excitement and Mel's winging led Tom G to name their team "Ernie and Bert." Before even seeing the team of 3 he decided to name them "The Muppets." He would refer to the teams by these names for the rest of the season.
