Tie yourself to the bed was a task featured on Series 17 of Taskmaster, as the fourth task in Snooker cue umbrella chin. The task was won by Sophie Willan.
Setup[]
Location | Taskmaster House |
---|---|
Equipment | Ties on the rails, bed, hooks |
Measurement | Most tied up person |
Summary[]
The task was hanging with bundles of ties on the tie rail. The contestants had to tie themselves to the bed, using as many ties from the rail. Under the bed were hooks for grabbing the ties. The contestants had to remain horizontal whilst in the lab. If they pulled down the terrible tie, they were disqualified from the task.
Some of the ties had "family mottos" written in Welsh, meaning:
- "Gwybod be ti eisiau a chael yr hyder i fynd amdani." = Know what you want and have the confidence to go after it.
- "Peidiwch wylior cloc; gwna beth maen gwneud. Cario ymlaen!" = Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going!
- "Bydd person hapus, yn gwneud eraill yn hapus." = Whoever is happy will make others happy too.
- "Dyma'r tei ofnadwy" = This is the terrible tie
Performance[]
Joanne McNally: Joanne used the hooks to knock down the ties and tied herself to the bed, attempting to make some loose ties appear to be tied to her. She tied herself up with 15 ties, receiving 4 points.
John Robins: John used the hooks to knock down the ties and tied the ties into one long rope around his body and the bed. He tied himself up with 13 ties, with 10 of them as one long rope, receiving 3 points.
Nick Mohammed: Nick found the hooks and tied himself to the bed, then attempted to leave the lab to get help but struggled to move after he flipped over. Whilst Nick's tie count was not mentioned, he tied himself up with at least 8 ties, receiving 2 points.
Sophie Willan: Sophie left the lab horizontally, and found some rope to tie herself with, also using 2 of the ties. Using the rope allowed her to tie herself up the most, receiving 5 points.
Steve Pemberton: Steve used the hooks to whack the rails, unknowingly breaking the tie rack, causing the ties to continually fall on him. He ended up using 28 ties to tie himself up, but the first to drop on him was the terrible tie, so he was disqualified from the task.
