Taskmaster Wiki

Peg a sock, bin a sock, then don a sock on an appendage was a task featured on Series 17 of Taskmaster, as the third task in Assistantbury. The task was won by John Robins.

Setup[]

Location Taskmaster House
Equipment Socks, pegs, wheelie bin, lock key
Measurement Most bleeps

Summary[]

The task was presented on top of the broken basket full of socks. The contestants had to put a sock on a peg on the first bleep, then put a sock in the bin after the next bleep, and then put a sock on an appendage after the next bleep. They then had to repeat this cycle, with the bleeps getting faster and faster as the task continued. The bin was chained to Linda the Cow with a lock on the chain, and the key to the lock was in the bag of pegs.

All curse words during this task were bleeped, and the words crossed out in the transcript for the task displayed on the page are bleeped out in the episode.

Performance[]

Joanne McNally: Joanne just put pegs on the socks, explaining that the task didn't ask to put them on the clothesline, and put socks on Linda's ear as her appendages, which she missed the bleeps. She made it past 42 bleeps, receiving 4 points.

John Robins: John carried the bag of pegs, while looking for the key, which he eventually found, and moved the bin and socks near the clothesline. He made it past 43 bleeps after unable to properly don the sock, receiving 5 points.

Nick Mohammed: Nick keep running back and forth between the bin and clothesline. But when he find the key, he carried the bag of pegs with it to where the bin is and later unable to outrun the bleep to peg the sock. He made it past 22 bleeps, receiving 2 points.

Sophie Willan: Sophie binned the socks by throwing them behind her, and donned some socks by balancing them on her head. She made it past 30 bleeps after unable to properly peg the sock, receiving 3 points.

Steve Pemberton: Steve misunderstood the task, thinking that the bleeps from his swearing would be the ones counted. He swore repeatedly and created foul-mouthed characters with the socks and the bin. Even including his bleeped swears, he "created" 15 bleeps, receiving 1 point.

Trivia[]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Joanne wore a boiler suit for the course of this task, unlike the other contestants. It was never explained why.
  • This task was originally attempted in Series 15, but the washing line was in the dome, and the contestants could throw a sock into the bin through a gap in the dome's panels.[1]
