Taskmaster Wiki

Identify the contents of these pies was a task featured on Series 1 of Taskmaster, as the third task in The pie whisperer. The task was won by Tim Key.

Setup[]

Location Taskmaster House
Measurement Most accurate guess

Summary[]

The task is presented on a table next to 5 different pies. The contestants had to identify the contents of the pie without breaching the pastry. The five pies were, from left to right: marbles pie, frozen peas pie, steak pie, picture of the Taskmaster pie, and hot toothpaste pie.

Performance[]

Frank Skinner: Frank assumed all of the pies were regular pies, and guessed the contents by "sensing" the pies, like a psychic "pie whisperer". From left to right, he guessed: steak and ale pie, steak and onion pie, cheese and potato pie, steak and kidney pie, and sweet potato and leek pie, and guessed 0 correctly, including the middle pie, which was the only regular pie. When he was allowed to open the pies after the task, he incorrectly identified the toothpaste pie, even after tasting it himself, stating that it was: milk pie, yogurt pie, extra-strong mint pie and mint tippex pie. He received 1 point.

Josh Widdicombe: Josh looked at the bottoms of the pies and looked through holes in the pastry, but accidently breached the pea pie when the bottom fell out. From left to right, he guessed: marbles pie, peas pie (invalidated due to breaching), [unknown], nothing pie, toothpaste pie. He received 2 points.

Roisin Conaty: Roisin got Alex to eat the pies, as she looked away, then guessed the contents based on his reactions, whereas she could have looked at the pies whilst Alex ate them instead. Alex ate the steak pie , was unable to eat the marbles pie, and begrudgingly ate the toothpaste pie, stating that it wasn't a "nice-time pie". From left to right, her guesses were: kidney pie, [unknown], steak pie, [unknown], milk pie. She received 4 points.

Romesh Ranganathan: Romesh looked through holes in the pastry, but accidently breached the toothpaste pie when the bottom fell out. Romesh argued that he didn't breach the pie as he claimed the pie didn't have "sufficient structural integrity". From left to right, he guessed: glass marbles pie, frozen peas pie, steak and kidney pie, [unknown], toothpaste pie (invalidated due to breaching). Roisin criticized Romesh's attempt, stating that he "breached them [the pies] with his eyes". He received 3 points.

Tim Key: Tim asked Alex to punch the pies, so he could see what was inside of the pies without breaching them himself. From left to right, he guessed: marbles pie, frozen peas pie, beef pie, picture of the Taskmaster pie, toothpaste pie. He received 5 points.
