Hoopla Gary before he crosses the finish line was a task featured on Series 17 of Taskmaster, as the fourth task in Grappling with my life. The task was won by Joanne McNally.
Setup[]
Location | Kennel Farm |
---|---|
Equipment | Hula-hoops, Gary the Gorilla, a boat |
Measurement | Fastest wins |
Summary[]
The task was presented inside the hula hoops. The contestants, wearing the boiler suit, had to throw a hula-hoop onto Gary the Gorilla's head while Gary was in a boat before he reached the finish line. The contestant who got a hoop on Gary's head in the fastest time wins. For each limb that got wet, their time was doubled. Behind them at all times was a scarecrow wearing a raincoat and waders which contestants could've used to keep their arms and legs dry.
Performance[]
Joanne McNally: Joanne got a hoop on Gary on her second throw. She got a hoop on Gary in 48 seconds, and received 5 points.
John Robins: John got a hoop on Gary on his fifth throw, before getting another hoop on him from a longer distance. He got a hoop on Gary in 2 minutes and 5 seconds, and received 3 points.
Nick Mohammed: Nick threw all his hoops but none landed on Gary, so he walked into the water and pulled the string tethering Gary to pull him away from the finish line while keeping his arms dry. He got a hoop on Gary in 2 minutes and 45 seconds, but because he got both legs wet his time was doubled twice, giving him a final time of 11 minutes. He received 2 points.
Sophie Willan: Sophie threw all her hoops but none landed on Gary, with one landing on a branch of a nearby tree. She decided to hop across the river before almost falling over, thinking she was sinking. She failed to get a hoop on Gary, so she received 0 points, but Greg called her the people's champion.
Steve Pemberton: Steve got a hoop on Gary on his third throw. He got a hoop on Gary in 1 minute and 28 seconds, and received 4 points.
