Get the basketball through the hoop was a task featured on Series 5 of Taskmaster, as the fourth task in Dignity intact. The task was won by Bob Mortimer.

Summary[]

The task was presented on the doormat with a basketball. The contestants had to get the basketball through the basketball hoop, but they could not touch the basketball or wear any gloves or something that could be construed as gloves to touch the basketball.

Performance[]

Aisling Bea: Aisling used a rake and a crutch as giant chopsticks to get the basketball through the hoop. She got the ball through the hoop in 3 minutes and 8 seconds, receiving 3 points.

Bob Mortimer: Bob lodged the basketball in a cone before climbing a ladder and getting the ball through the hoop. He got the ball through the hoop in 2 minutes and 59 seconds, receiving 5 points.

Mark Watson: Mark put the basketball in a bucket and dropped the basketball through the hoop after standing on a commode. His time was not stated but he took between 3 minutes and 3 minutes and 7 seconds, receiving 4 points.

Nish Kumar: Nish chipped the ball into the hoop after over 50 attempts and 28 minutes and 19 seconds. He received 2 points.

Sally Phillips: Sally used a pair of wellies as gloves to get the basketball though the hoop. Despite taking 2 minutes and 5 seconds, she was disqualified from the task for using something construed as gloves.

The task was featured on Season 1 of Le maître du jeu. While the prohibition on touching the ball with one's hands was not explicitly stated on the taped footage that made it to air, Taskmaster Louis Morissette explicitly mentioned it in studio. The task was won by Jo Cormier. Additionally, similar to Nish Kumar's attempts in the original outing of the task, Matthieu Pepper's attempt was presented as if he had chipped the ball into the net on his first try, despite actually taking over 8 minutes and 72 attempts to finally succeed.
