Fred the Swede is a recurring character in Taskmaster.
Appearances[]
Fred's first appearance was in Series 1 of Taskmaster, where he was the Swedish person in question in the task "Make this Swedish person blush." The task was won by Roisin Conaty.
Fred returned for Series 2 as the subject of the task "Find out the following information from this Swedish person" The task was won by Katherine Ryan.
Fred appeared in Series 3 along with four other Swedish people, in the live task "Balance your swedes on your Swede" which was won by Al Murray.
Fred appeared via webcam on Series 4, in the task "Put on the wetsuit, flippers, face mask and snorkel" which required the contestants to maintain small talk with him whilst putting on the scuba diving equipment. The task was won by Lolly Adefope.
Whilst Fred did not appear in person in Series 5, his face was featured in the tiebreaker task "Back throw a Swede", which Mark Watson won over Aisling Bea.
Fred appeared via webcam (with his face shown on an iPad which was stuck on a dummy) in Series 13, in a task "Learn Swedish" which required the contestants to learn to speak Swedish in 15 minutes and then have a conversation with him. The task was won by Ardal O'Hanlon.
Background[]
Fred the Swede is a musician who played with Alex Horne in his band, The Horne Section.[1] He was later called up to do a few appearances in Horne's new show, Taskmaster, before he moved back to Sweden in 2017. His father is a painter and decorator, which he took up along with his music.
Personal Interests[]
Music is Fred's passion. His favourite food is Salisbury steak, boiled potatoes, cream sauce, fried onions, and lingonberries. His favorite colour to paint is blue. He is rather "amiable" with Doc Brown, which is short-lived in the task, 'Get information from a Swedish person, who may not communicate in English'. Fred is afraid of failure.
