Eat as much watermelon as possible was a task featured on Series 1 of Taskmaster, as the second task in Melon buffet. The task was won by Romesh Ranganathan with 301g.
Setup[]
Location | Taskmaster House |
---|---|
Equipment | Boiler suit, goggles, watermelon |
Timing | 1 minute |
Measurement | Most watermelon eaten |
Summary[]
The task is presented alongside a boiler suit and a pair of goggles that the contestants had to wear. The contestants had to eat as much watermelon as possible in a minute after entering the lab, but could prepare beforehand.
Performance[]
Frank Skinner: Frank broke the watermelon open on the corner of the table before using his hands to eat it, eating 179g. Later, Greg claimed that Frank looked 12 years old in the white boiler suit provided. He received 2 points.
Josh Widdicombe: Josh brought a knife into the lab with him, which he used to cut open the watermelon, before spoon feeding the melon into his mouth, eating 218g. Greg said that there didn't seem to be any sense of urgency, with Josh then claiming that the footage was slowed down. He received 3 points.
Roisin Conaty: Roisin entered the room expecting to see the watermelon sliced up. She then left the room to find a knife, cut the watermelon after 54 seconds and took a nibble out of it after 57 seconds, eating only 9g. She received 1 point.
Romesh Ranganathan: Romesh smashed the watermelon on the floor, perceiving it to be harder than it actually was, before shoving it into his mouth, almost choking on the watermelon at one point and vomiting after the whistle blows, which was weighed along with the remaining melon. Later, Romesh admits that he thought he was going to die as his throat was full of watermelon. He ate 301g, winning the task and receiving 5 points.
Tim Key: Tim smashed the watermelon onto the table before shoving it in his mouth distressingly, in what he called the "grandmother" technique. After the time finished, he ate one more piece of watermelon before winking to the camera. Counting the bit Tim ate, he ate 302g in total. However, because Tim poorly winked at the camera before leaving, Greg decided to take 9g off of Tim's total, taking it to 293g. He received 4 points.
