Create a new tradition to celebrate Assistant's Day was a task featured on Series 17 of Taskmaster, as the second task in Assistantbury. The task was won by Nick Mohammed.

Summary[]

The task was presented on the table in the caravan, next to a calendar featuring pictures of Alex Horne. The contestants had to create a new tradition that could hypothetically be held on Assistant's Day, which is supposedly held on April 20th, 2023.

Performance[]

Joanne McNally: Joanne put Alex in a "regal" trolley and wheeled him to The Taskmaster Statue, where she asked him to say rebellious things to it, including "Not Today, Satan!". She received 4 points.

John Robins: John created an suit entirely made out of paper and used cardboard boxes as shoes for Alex. He received 3 points.

Nick Mohammed: Nick created and sang a heartfelt song for Alex and later for the assistants around the world while playing the piano. He received 5 points.

Sophie Willan: Sophie and Alex sang a very brief song then threw clipboards and paperwork into the air. She received 1 point.

Steve Pemberton: Steve and Alex did a roly-poly on two big mats while holding cups of water, then danced and did a special handshake. He received 2 points.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • During his attempt, Steve said to Alex that he would see him at "Assistantbury", the episode's title.
  • Assistant's Day is not a real observation. Administrative Professionals' Day is, however, which is in the last week of April. In 2024, it was on April 23th.
  • When Steve breaks the table in the caravan, Alex says someone named Butch broke the table, referencing the Choose a new nickname based on something you do task. The studio segments for this episode were filmed prior to Languidly. airing, meaning the audience at the filming would not have gotten this reference.
