The task was presented on a stool next to three musicians. The contestants had to compose the best 30 second piece of music.

James Acaster: James made a song called "Over My Shoulder", with James playing a banjo and providing lyrics for the song. He received 4 points.

Jessica Knappett: Jessica made a jig called "Here I Am - I'm A Violin", which Alex later danced to in the studio. She received 5 points.

Kerry Godliman: Kerry made a piece called "Having A Great Time Any Time", with the band playing a slow piece of music that resembled a folk song. She received 3 points.

Phil Wang: Phil made a 12-bar blues called "The Yellow Blues", which featured him playing a single note on a trumpet. He received 2 points.

Rhod Gilbert: Rhod made a piece called "The Ballad of The Toothless Goon", which provided the soundtrack to his story about a little match girl and lasted 1 minute and 30 seconds. He received 4 points.
