Catch the potatoes in the potato hat was a task featured on Series 15 of Taskmaster, as the third task in I love to squander promise. The task was won by Mae Martin.
Setup[]
Location | Frogmore Paper Mill |
---|---|
Equipment | Potato hat, potatoes, toy animals, conveyor belt |
Timing | 3 minutes to prepare |
Measurement | Highest potatotal |
Summary[]
The task was presented on a conveyor belt. The contestants had to catch the potatoes in their potato hat whilst sat on the catching stool under the conveyor belt. They were not allowed to touch anything and had 3 minutes to prepare. From the catching stool, the contestants would have been able to see coasters around the walls, arranged according to the order of the objects on the belt, with coasters with Greg's face representing a potato and red ones representing a non-potato. The pattern of potatoes and animals on the conveyor belt would then repeat every 16 objects.
Performance[]
Frankie Boyle: Frankie wrote down the order of the items on the conveyor belt but got confused by the pattern repeating and just let anything drop into his hat. He caught 21 potatoes and 23 animals, giving him a potatotal of -2, so he received 1 point.
Ivo Graham: Ivo tried to memorise the pattern but then saw the coaster pattern on the wall from the catching stool, which he struggled to keep up with. He caught 11 potatoes and 10 animals, giving him a potatotal of 1, so he received 2 points.
Jenny Eclair: Jenny wrote down the order of the items on the conveyor belt but had so much fun doing the task that she gave up looking at her list. She caught 10 potatoes and 6 animals, giving her a potatotal of 4, so she received 4 points.
Kiell Smith-Bynoe: Kiell tried to create a song called "Not, pot, pot" to memorise the order of the items on the conveyor belt, but got confused by the pattern repeating. He caught 22 potatoes and 19 animals, giving him a potatotal of 3, so he received 3 points.
Mae Martin: Mae tried to memorise the pattern, but then saw the coaster pattern on the wall from the catching stool and managed to follow it closely. They caught 22 potatoes and 7 animals, giving them a potatotal of 15, so they received 5 points.
