Bash the big bell with the bowling ball was a task featured on Series 15 of Taskmaster, as the fourth task in It's my milk now. The task was won by Mae Martin.
Setup[]
Location | Taskmaster House |
---|---|
Equipment | Bowling ball, bell, fake grass, golden shoes, gold spray paint in a red can, red spray paint in a gold can |
Timing | Maximum of 20 minutes |
Measurement | Fastest or slowest contestants only |
Summary[]
The task was presented on the doormat. The contestants had to bash the big bell in the middle of the fake grass with the bowling ball. The fastest would receive 5 points, the slowest would receive 4 points and everyone else would receive 0 points. Only the bowling ball and golden shoes were allowed to touch the grass. There was a golden shoe hidden inside a pile of boots and another was hidden inside of the giant pineapple. If the contestants wanted Alex's golden shoes, they had to either: deposit £100 into Alex's bank account; give him a perfect dippy boiled egg with buttered soldiers and a glass of milk; or physically remove them from Alex.
Performance[]
Frankie Boyle: Frankie initially bowled the bowling ball before making "gold shoes" out of yellow swing ball racquets tied to his feet so he could walk on the fake grass. Whilst his competitors initially argued against his solution, they'd swiftly changed their minds once it was revealed that his disqualification would have meant Mae would have received 9 points. He bashed the bell with the bowling ball in 6 minutes and 50 seconds, receiving 4 points.
Ivo Graham: Ivo initially bowled the bowling ball all the way to the gate, before requesting Alex's shoes and spending a long time trying to make the perfect dippy boiled egg. Once presenting Alex with the egg, he grabbed Alex's shoes and ran to hit the bell with the bowling ball. Despite bashing the bell with the bowling ball in 19 minutes and 44 seconds, he both touched the real grass and put the podium holding the eggs on the fake grass, so was disqualified from the task.
Jenny Eclair: Jenny initially rolled the bowling ball up the fake grass before finding a gold shoe in the giant pineapple. She then decided to spray her boots gold, first finding red spray paint disguised in a golden can before finding the gold spray paint in a red can. Despite bashing the bell with the bowling ball in 3 minutes and 40 seconds, she had accidentally stepped on the real grass to avoid the fake grass, so was disqualified from the task.
Kiell Smith-Bynoe: Kiell initially bowled the bowling ball before requesting Alex's shoes and attempting to physically removed Alex's shoes. He then rolled up the fake grass to retrieve the bowling ball before repeatedly bowling the bowling ball. Despite bashing the bell with the bowling ball in 3 minutes and 45 seconds, Kiell accidentally stood on the real grass so was disqualified from the task.
Mae Martin: Mae managed to find a gold shoe in the pile of boots and, after looking for the other shoe, decided to just hop with the bowling ball to the bell using the one shoe they had found. They bashed the bell with the bowling ball in 2 minutes and 57 seconds, receiving 5 points.
